Saturday’s parkrun results were notable by the sheer number of Harriers belting out all-time PB performances on courses which they had never done before. In fact, there were Harriers at no less than 18 different parkrun events on Saturday 20 April. Kicking things off with the all-time PBs, shout outs are due to: Rebecca Lawson (24.42 in Cardiff); Leon Doran (19.17 in the Forest of Dean); Sylvia Moss (21.35 in York); Orla Williams, who was first placed female, alongside Frankie Baxter and Tamsin Finch (18.09, 19.11 and 24.58, respectively, at Rickmansworth); Kate Loach (20.40 at Catterick); Charlie Stone (18.34 at Whitstable); Fabian Downs (15.34 at Wycombe Rye, also first place); Emily Ford (23.30 at Gadebridge); and Marlie Nkoane (23.34 at Shorne Woods). In additional parkrun news, there were also first-placed finishes for Lizzie Barraclough (21.12 at Black Park in her parkrun debut, no less); and Ella Botha, who joined Fabe in taking the victory at Wycombe Rye in 20.51. And finally, Abigail Chapman earned a course PB at Rickmansworth (29.30), as did Douglas Smith at Wendover Woods (27.46).
Easter Sunday was a race-free day, but Harriers were out in force today at the Beaconsfield 5 (mile) trail race, organised by fellow local Club Burnham Joggers. Fabe repeated his winning form, coming home to claim the victory in 26.19. He was followed by Mark Bruce, who was first in his age category in 30.07; and then by: Alistair Melville-Smith (30.59); Dave Howells (33.02); Tom Pickett (33.27); David Saul (40.10); Tim Dawson (42.23); Katherine Day (all the ‘4s’ 44.44); Harriet Lemon (45.25); Philip Lewis (52.52) and Paula Walker (53.49).
Meanwhile, in London, Katie Royals improved on her performance of last year in the London Easter 10k by 5 minutes, finishing in 48.48.
