Kicking this weekend’s running off early, and staying on the ultra theme, Dave Bellamy took part in one of Running Miles’ Wendover Challenge 6-hour timed events on Thursday 16 May. Dave hit the 50k mark (or, specifically, 31.96 miles) in a total time of 5.42.22 on the hilly course. On Friday 17 May honorary Harriers Down Under, Jason and Carolynn Trimmer took part in the UTA22 (a half marathon event in the beautiful Blue Mountains), with Jason taking the win in the SuperMasters 50+ category in a time of 2.08.19 and Carolynn coming home in 2.55. And then, just to round off the weekend, Jason ran 100k (with 12,000 ft of elevation) on Saturday 18 May in an impressive time of 16 hours 16 minutes. All I can say is ouch. And more ouch.
Today, Sunday 19 May, there was victory for Lisa Taylor in the Ridge Off Roader 10k, in a time of 48.35, and also for Mike ‘Tiny’ Turney as first MV50 in a time of 43.41. Meanwhile in the half marathon version of the event, Jon Taylor came home in a highly respectable 1.40.50 on the hilly course. At Dorney Lake James Repper picked himself up following a fall from the bike to put in a brave performance as part of the Eton Sprints [Triathlon] weekend. His splits were 11.58 for the swim (0.75k), 34.37 for the bike (21.2k) and 18.49 for the run (5k), bringing him in a total time of 1.08.13. Finally, in Copenhagen Caroline Stephens battled really hot conditions, and a really tough-sounding race to come home in 4.20.18 in the Copenhagen Marathon. Especial well done to both James and Caroline for surviving tough days at the office. Those days, as we all know, are never fun at the time, but are ultimately what make us stronger in the long run.

Doug Smith earned a PB in the 800m (3.30.62) and there were good results for Martyn Cartwright and Brian Gregory in the 800m and 400m (3.40.09 and 1.07.50, respectively).
