Some Chiltern Harriers youngsters have been getting into the swing of the new track season.
U13/U15 Indoor Pentathlon and Open, Lee Valley
Sunday March 24th saw three Chiltern U15 girls take part in a highly competitive pentathlon and others get going in open events.
The Pentathlon featured new recruit Chisom Nwafor, Gabi Riley and Jessica Cook. Chisom finished an excellent 10th with 2496 points. Gabi was 31st with 1980 and Jess 34th with 1886.
Chisom’s card was as follows – 60m hurdles 10.44, High Jump 1.51m, Long Jump 3.94m, Shot 9.50m, 800m 2.52.17.
Gabi recorded 60m hurdles 10.73, High Jump 1.15m, Long Jump 3.90m, Shot 7.14m, 800m 2.46.31.
Jess’s results - 60m hurdles 11.26, High Jump 1.24m, Long Jump 3.85m, Shot 8.45m, 800m 3.02.85.
Elsewhere U15 Serena Gueye ran an excellent 60m PB of 7.98, U15 Jemma Thomson ran 8.60 and U13 Holly Davies 9.82. Jemma won her 200m race in a swift 28.46. In 800m U15 Ella Botha got her season going with a good time of 2.35.73. Holly Davies ran 3.18.33.
Bracknell Open
The Bracknell Open on Saturday 30th was the first outdoor meeting for some.
U17 Finn Hobson ran PBs in 200m (23.95) and 100m hurdles (16.24) and jumped a 5.41m long jump. Noah Hobson (U15) was also in PB shape in 100m (13.88), long jump (4.10m) and shot (6.06m).
Jess Cook was back in action recording a long jump PB of 4.10m and ran a good 75m hurdles of 14.13. Another U15 on song was Jemma Thomson who ran big sprint PBs of 13.53 (100m) and 27.63 (200m). U15 Tia Lomas got her season going with an 800m PB of 2.38.05 and a long jump PB of 3.87m. U13 Sofia Lomas made her track debut with 24.16 in 150m.
