Frankie Baxter continued her very busy May with a storming run in A string 800m with 2.19.6, breaking the league record for the age group. Marea Logan gained maximum points in 800m with a B string win in 2.34.6. Middle distance success continued in 1200m where, in a high quality race, Lesedi Nkoane was second but equalled the club record with 3.51.6, and put herself well inside the national top-ten rankings. Olivia Clarke ran a PB of 4.16.7 to be third in B string. Lily Jessop-Tranter (2.40.0) and Savarnah Pandya (2.48.1) both ran well in 800m non-scoring.
In the sprints there were PBs all round in favourable conditions. Izzy Martin (11.5), Lily Jessop-Tranter (11.5), Jo Snelling (11.7) and Lucy Wilkinson (12.0) all logged new bests in 75m. In 150m A string Sophie Habgood made her YDL debut with a promising 21.9 and Roxy McLellan ran a PB of 23.3 in B string. The 4 x 100m team of Mila Luker, Marea, Izzy and Lucy were seventh in 61.3.
In the field Lesedi (3.70m) and Sophie (3.45m) looked after long jump and Roxy (1.15m) and Olivia (1.10m) scored useful points in high jump. Frankie (5.93m) and Beth Togneri (5.23m) scored well in shot and Mila Luker (10.73m) and Beth (8.33m) looked after javelin.
Under 13 Boys
There was domination in middle distance with Alden Collier recording another very fast time, and easy win, in 800m with 2.11.8. Isaac Jessop-Tranter won B string comfortably in 2.20.5. There was also a double win in 1500m with Max Baxter recording a big PB in an excellent race in 4.50.7. Leon Doran won B string in 5.03.5. In non-scoring 800m Gabriel Strutton-Smith and Callum Powell had an epic duel, both logging big PBs with 2.27.7 in a very close finish.
Isaac Jessop-Tranter ran a PB of 13.4 to be fourth in A string 100m, Gabriel Strutton-Smith running 15.5 in B string. In 200m Euan Pinder (30.4) ran A string and Alex Hughes (34.9) looked after B string. George Fotherby helped with A string 75m hurdles. The 4 x 100m quartet of Alden, Alex, Isaac and Gabriel ran 58.3 to be sixth.
In the field John Broadis was fourth in javelin with 24.04m and third in shot with a PB of 7.04m. Danny Carruthers made his YDL debut with B string shot and high jump. Euan Pinder did excellently to win A string high jump with 1.30m. Alex Hughes (3.66m) and Archie Pinder (3.57m) looked after long jump.
Under 15 Girls
Abbie Henderson had a great battle in 800m, just pipped but in another great time of 2.19.3. In B string Tia Lomas struggled with an ankle problem but still logged 2.36.7 to be fifth. There was a double win in 1500m, Alice Brown having a great run to overhaul her rival in the home straight and win in a season’s best 4.59.8. Maddie Hughes won B string in a strong 5.07.1. Ellie Shield was second in non-scoring 800m in 2.38.1.
The sprints were superb quality. In A string 100m the first four girls ran ESAA qualifiers, Chisom Nwafor third in 12.6. Also in 12.6, Serena Gueye won B string. In 200m Serena scored a PB of 26.5 to be third and Jemma Thomson ran a PB of 27.1 to win B string. Gabi Riley ran a PB of 14.2 in non-scoring 100m. Jemma ran a PB of 44.7 in A string 300m, Rosa Williams ran B string in 48.6. The 4 x 100m quartet of Gabi, Chisom, Jemma and Serena were second in a good 52.1.
In the field Chisom won shot with 10.07m and was third in high jump with 1.45m. Caitlin Gregory had a great day, second in both A string discus (17.89m) and hammer (23.27m). Jess Cook won B string hammer with 20.58m, and was third in B string shot with 7.54m and sixth in A string javelin with 19.96m. Maddie Hughes was second in B string discus with a PB of 15.36m and Ellie Shield looked after B string javelin.
Under 15 Boys
Thomas Askey ran a PB of 2.12.9 to be second in A string 800m and Matt Aldred had an easy win in B string in 2.16.9. Sammy Bennetts ran well for a PB of 2.31.9 in non-scoring 800m. A very enjoyable 1500m saw PBs for Thomas Redmond (third in A string in 4.36.1) and Oakley Denson, winning B string in 4.46.8.
Rex Vidal had a vey good day with PBs in 100m (13.0), shot (7.55m) and long jump (5.06m). Adam Winstanley ran a PB of 39.1 to be second in A string 300m and ran well for 24.2 in 200m. John Nickless helped in B string 200m in 29.1. Thomas Askey continued his good day with a PB of 41.2 in 300m. Noah Hobson ran a strong PB of 14.3 to be second in A string 80m hurdles.
Noah also helped with shot and discus. Sammy Bennetts also helped in discus. Jamie Powell did well in high jump (1.25m). Oakley and Matt looked after javelin. The 4 x 300m team of Thomas Redmond, Thomas Askey, Jamie Powell and Oakley Denson was seventh.
