After early clouds and drizzle the day ended with sunshine and a firm breeze.
There was another YDL record broken by Frankie Baxter in 1200m with a sizzling 3.41.6, breaking the time Frankie had set at the last match. This time also nudges Frankie into top spot on the all-time list for the distance. Not far behind was Lesedi Nkoane, recording a PB of 3.48.5 in winning the B string. There was also a double win in 800m with Marea Logan winning A string in 2.32.8 and Lucy Wilkinson winning B string in 2.34.0. In the sprints Mila Luker was fourth in A string 75m, Sophie Habgood third in B string. Sophie set a PB of 21.7 in 150m A string, Izzy Martin looking after B string with 23.3. Zoe Gilbody won non-scoring 800m with ease in 2.25.4, Savarnah Pandya third in 2.49.1, and Jo Snelling and Izzy Martin featured in non-scoring 75m.
In hurdles Olivia Clarke and Jo Snelling ran well. In the field Lucy Wilkinson threw a huge 21.33m javelin for an A string win, Beth Togneri was second in B string. Olivia Clarke and Beth looked after shot. Mila Luker was third in A string long jump with a PB of 4.09m, Marea Logan looking after B string. Lily Jessop-Tranter and Savarnah Pandya scored useful points in high jump.
Under 15 Girls
Despite having a couple of key athletes away, the U15 girls scored well. Abbie Henderson and Maddie Hughes secured a double win in 800m, and Holly Henderson was second in A string 1500m in a big PB of 4.52.4, Alice Brown winning B string in 4.55.2. Serena Gueye was third in A string 100m in 12.8 and Mahima Sharma ran a season’s best in B string. Serena ran a 200m PB of 26.2 to be third and Jemma Thomson won B string in 27.5. In 300m Jemma ran 44.5 and Abbie Henderson was third in B string in a PB of 44.8. Holly Henderson ran a PB of 13.3 in A string hurdles and Jess Cook ran B string.
Serena Gueye was second in A string shot with a PB of 8.74m and Jess Cook won B string with 8.29m. Amelia Peck was third in A string javelin with 28.94m and Maddie Hughes looked after B string. Holly Henderson and Alice Brown filled in at discus and did well with 15.61m and 12.52m respectively. Abbie Henderson equalled her high jump PB of 1.50m to be fourth and Rosa Williams looked after B string. Alice Brown and Jess Cook did long jump. The 4 x 300m team of Abbie, Holly, Maddie and Alice ran a season’s best 3.08.8 to be third.
Under 13 Boys
There was a middle distance clean sweep with Isaac Jessop-Tranter and Euan Pinder winning 800m, and Alden Collier and Max Baxter winning 1500m. Archie Pinder and Leon Doran ran well in non-scoring 800m. Isaac returned for A string 100m with Charlie Ventress in B string. Charlie Ventress ran A string 200m and Euan Pinder ran a PB of 29.6 in B string. Charlie was third in A string hurdles, George Fotherby second in B string.
John Broadis had a great day in the field winning javelin with a PB of 29.43m and high jump with 1.30m. John was also fourth in A string shot. Archie Pinder was third in B string javelin, Max fourth in B string shot and Euan second in B string high jump. George and Isaac did long jump and the 4 x 100m team of Euan, Archie, Alden and Leon was sixth.
Under 15 Boys
A light team did well with several boys filling in field events for useful points. Saajan Jassy ran A string 100m and scored a 200m PB of 25.4 in B string. Noah Hobson helped out with B string 100m and Adam Winstanley ran well for sixth in A string 200m and fourth in 300m. Thomas Askey was fourth in B string 300m. Thomas ran a strong tactical race for second, and a PB of 2.11.2, in 800m. Angus Stoneham competed well in B string 800m and Nathan Sweeney won non-scoring 800m in a PB of 2.18.1. In 1500m Matt Aldred ran well for second in a strong 4.39.8 and Laurie Gawne won B string in 5.00.3. Noah Hobson ran A string 80m hurdles and Nathan Sweeney won B string with a PB of 14.1. Adam Winstanley (8.11m) and Thomas Askey (7.30m) both got shot PBs and Matt Aldred helped out with javelin. The 4 x 100m team (Noah, Thomas, Adam and Saajan) was fifth, and the 4 x 300m quartet (Angus, Matt, Laurie and Nathan) was seventh.
